I remember listening to Oprah's 2007 show where she was discussing the DVD called , "The Secret". One of the panelists said something that struck me at the time but I never acted on it. Recently , I had a reminder sound in my mind that it was important to heed this panelist's advice, especially as we move into 2012. He said that , " you will not receive anything new if you are not grateful for what you already have." It dawned on me that I have a lot to be grateful for in my life and since I am expecting a lot of new stuff in 2012 , I guess this is the time to start showing gratitude.
I have condenced my list into 5 categories for ease of reference as follows:
I have been blessed with wonderful and challenging relationships in my life and I am so grateful. Some relationships have nurtured my gifts and strengths but others have challenged my weaknesses. I would like to thank especially my relationship with my husband. It has been a rough road full of potholes but hey, have I grown personally! This relationship, brought to the surface a lot of issues that I needed to deal with personally. It's as if my husband was acting as my reflection in the mirror because all the things I did not like about him or his character were there for me to deal with before I could grow spiritually.
I have come to appreciate that some of the issues I dealt with in my relationships actually were catalysts to my awakening to my spiritual identity. I am becoming more aware of who I am as a spirit being in a body with a mind and out here to experience life and learn some lessons before moving on. I must thank my relationships for the lessons that they have given me and for changing my attitudes towards others.
My health has never been a big issue and I must thank god for giving me a healthy body and sound mind. As I have been growing older, there are many issues that women of my age face but I am yet to encounter them. I actually look younger than my age and have only dealt with minor issues. I am able to control my stress levels and have been mindful of taking the desired rest whenever my body and mind sound the alarm. Though I am not an exercise fanatic, including one or two stretches a day has ensured that I keep fit. I believe that my future is bright and I would like to age gracefully.
I am not rich but I am not poor either. Wealth to me means more than having a fat bank account. It comes in many forms i.e a successful and secure career, ability to pay for things that are necessary for me to lead a comfortable life. Friends , family and peers as well as fans are all a form of wealth for me. Being able to go to bed and go to sleep immediately and last 8 hours is a sign of good living. Some people would go to the ends of the earth to get a good night's sleep. I am blessed indeed and I thank God. I believe God gives us tools that we need in order to carry out our purpose here on earth.
Everybody needs a family , a sense of belonging.I am grateful for the family I have both physical and spiritual. My physical family is made up of my immediate family , i.e my spouse and children. They all make me a better person. My children , make my life whole and I believe my main task is to care for them and bring them up to be the men and women that God wants them to be. I also have adopted family and extended family. They all give me something to do in my life and I am ever busy. My parents inspire me and challenge me to excel in life and I am grateful for the foundation they built for me early in my life. My siblings and in-laws also keep me on my toes and challenge me to look at life differently, i.e with purpose.
Last but not least, I thank my resilient spirit that has carried me through as it is aware of my soul's desires and destination. My spirit has not failed me , leading and directing me as it knows the hidden things of God. My spirit has embrased the one true God and Identified with the Holy Spirit of the creator and so I am comfortable in my earthly body and am becoming aware of my mission.
I believe 2012 is pregnant with gifts that the universe would like to give me and I am ready with open arms to receive. I hope this will inspire you the reader to start being grateful for your life and the experiences that you have had so far. Join me in preparing for 2012 with open arms!
